Why we write no more for Infinite Energy
"It
is flattering to learn one day that one holds such 'power'. It
had been hidden from me. Even if, quite naturally, potency creates
many enemies, and more and more frequently now, the enemy murders you
while laughing at the police. But where does this potency come from?
Perhaps because I was able to write, without any concessions, exactly
what I thought of my epoch? Might then that potency be nothing other
than that which "the strong souls have over the weak ones", what
has often in history gone in the guise of witchcraft? That's what
is meant by "pursuing one's infernal course in another world",
rather than one's paradisiac career in this one. Having assumed my
historical responsibilities, obviously I do not pretend to be
innocent. Hegel said that only the stones are innocent. (...) As
can be seen, my name is on the proscription lists of my epoch.
Everywhere else, besides, my name has been erased - from art, from
the history of ideas, from the history of contemporary events. (...)
The dominant fakery may well have everyone else's approval; it will
have to go without mine."
G.Debord, Reflections on the murder of Gerard Lebovici
Following the passing away of Charles
Entenmann in February 2022 - who, since 2003, became the main donor
of Infinite Energy and its New Energy Foundation - and a decade after
SPAWAR (Space and Naval
Warfare) Systems Center ended its long-standing LENR research, it was
clear that Infinite Energy would not last much longer. Its last issue
dates from June 2024, and one can only wish good riddance to W.
Zebuhr and C. Frasier, the two ant workers who dug the grave of
Infinite Energy, by filling its pages with crap that Mallove would
surely have rejected. The text below, written in October 2004, stated
our intent to no longer contribute to IE - a promise we fulfilled. It
did not, of course, prevent IE from surviving another 2 decades with
ever decreasing quality of the contributions. Note
of March 2025.
To report, only 5 months after the wanton and
unsolved murder of our dear friend, Dr. Eugene Mallove, on the
death of Infinite Energy,
was not something we cherished - nor had we anticipated we would find
ourselves having to do so. It was of little consolation to note that,
if the murderers of Gene have still not been found, at least it was
possible to identify the many grave-diggers
of his spirit. In the immediate
aftermath of his death, their exhibitionism was a veritable plague
visited upon us - all in Gene's name. And if the identification of
these grave-diggers took a while, it was only because of the unending
lies which some of them, the new President of the NEF in particular
(W. Zebuhr), entertained us with. But enough is enough. Now that the
cat is out of the bag, there is no more reason to continue with what
has become a charade.
We have made our
report concerning the events that
have taken place within NEF and IE since Gene's death. We will not
re-iterate them here. But this is perhaps the right moment to ask
ourselves what went wrong - why it is that these matters have gone so
sour.
Of course, there are conjunctural factors. At
the time of his death, Gene had barely created the NEF, had had
little time to modify the composition and function of the Scientific
Advisory Board, had known Bill Zebuhr for only two years, had made
Bill - as the best he had at hand - his choice to replace him as head
of the NEF, undoubtedly never imagining there would be a need for
this to occur, and so on. But there are other factors also, not
conjunctural but structural.
Though we had cautioned Gene about the likely
failure of certain of his approaches to scientists, engineers and
investors associated with all sorts of factions, corporations and
investment interests at play in the so-called New Energy field, Gene
was convinced that in the end he would find among them a real
investor, who would both have the means and share the vision and
commitment to our science and technology, as well as to its theory
and philosophy. He refused to accept that the substantial and
definitive inroads afforded by Aetherometry into the science and
technology, not just of alternative energy systems, but of biological
systems and nanomachines, might not be able to find minds
sufficiently prepared and open to grasp them. And he was determined
to be the link that would provide the connection. Entirely new
vistas that he had never contemplated, and which none of these
marginal factions of scientists and inventors had even an inkling of,
had opened up to him, and, since 2001, he had been more and more
feeling his obligations to IE and the cold fusion field as a dead
weight about his neck.
But the outcome of Gene's repeated
approaches, on behalf of Aetherometry, to investors and scientists
had become invariably the same - at best a fishing expedition, and at
worst a closed door, a complete lack of interest.
Of the scientists, engineers and writers that
Gene had ready access to - individuals for whom he had repeatedly
gone to bat over the years, for whom he had provided IE as a platform
for discussing their results and whom he had gone out of his way on
numerous occasions to assist, not one, to this day, has had the
courage to pick up a single Akronos monograph and attempt an
intelligent reading of it, despite Gene's repeated requests and
challenges. People like E. Storms, J. Rothwell, T. Mizuno, J.
Kooistra, J. Wall, M. Carrell, S. Chubb, T. Chubb, M. Swartz, S.
Krivit, B. Zebuhr, J. Bass, J. Bockris, P. Hagelstein, M. McKubre, M.
Srinivasan, H. Puthoff, K. Shoulders, H. Fox, to name but a few -
some of whom had even been offered complimentary access to the
monographs on our website. And how many copies of our DVD "From
Pulsed Plasma Power to the Aether Motor" did Gene give away for
'free' - that is, by 'paying for them
from his own pocket' - to yet others
who he hoped against hope might still take up the challenge and dare
to learn?
What this patently demonstrated is how
shockingly lazy, indolent and sectarian today's scientists really
are - even, and sometimes especially, those on the fringes, like the
cold-fusioneers. They're unwilling - and most likely unable - to make
the serious effort required to grasp new equations and methodology,
to follow the language and the investigation past the title (or, if
absolutely necessary, the abstract); and those that aspire to be
designated as scientific "peers", guardians of
institutional brain-washing, take it as a point of honor to refuse to
read a single line we wrote. So these assorted "scientific
communitarians" closed their doors, either diplomatically,
cynically or brusquely in Gene's face. This, of course, when they
didn't choose, as many of them did, to go the extra mile to stick a
knife in his back - either professionally or by trying to poison
against him one or another of his sponsors. Purely judeophobic
attacks against Gene that were secretely penned by J. Kooistra, M.
Carrell and still others, cost him two of his benefactors. It was so
ugly that Gene only confided in us and no one else.
What this also made clear is that knowledge
can never be left to mediocre and hateful people, any more than it
can be made, or allowed to be made, a matter of democracy and be put
to a vote.
Gene often said he had broad shoulders, so he
shook off the minor players, the fleas and the ticks, and focused his
combat on what he perceived to be the real issues. But the more he
did this, the more 'Infinite Energy'
could not help but question "Cold Fusion", question what
cold-fusioneers had actually achieved over all these years and what
they claimed they knew. The fact was, and is, that their CF units
could not be made to function as projected, while the PAGD, HYBORAC
and Aether Motors Gene witnessed in our laboratories worked
punctually every time - exactly as it was described they would.
Increasingly, Gene published evidence for massfree energy as found in
a variety of anomalies (arc discharges, "orgone accumulators",
electroscopes, Tesla coils, solar radiation, gyroscopes, etc, etc),
claiming, correctly, that a new physics of Matter and the Aether was
needed - beyond electromagnetic theory and even the best
electrodynamic models, beyond the lame New-Age recitations of Old
Aether theories. And increasingly, doors closed in his face.
Gene could not believe it. Obviously, our
material was written for scientists, technically-trained people and
serious thinkers - and anyone deeply concerned with the quest for a
Knowledge that is in the service of Life. And though he knew well
that, for this reason, the PADG and aetherometric materials would
never be popular best-sellers - he was determined to tirelessly
employ his skills as an educator to learn and to teach others how
these extraordinary new tools could be employed - as well as to relay
their practical application to potential investors. The technologies
which he had tested and written about for the last four years of his
life were here, at his disposal, ready to be made accessible to
anyone having serious intentions of sponsoring the work, or to any
colleague who was serious enough to learn the material. And, yet, he
met with a complete dearth of interest from scientists and bona-fide
investors alike. Why? It felt like a curse.
The simple answer is that the selling of free
energy is now a market ruled by promoters, anglers, opportunists,
looters, greedy and malevolent scientists, and a million imitators
who are ready to pounce on anyone who has actually created something.
Their objective is to create a vacuum around any serious inventor,
and a hard vacuum around anyone whose invention is sufficiently real
to threaten their position as promoters-who-have-nothing, no
financial or intellectual capital and no breakthrough inventions.
'Gene knew that this was so, and knew also that
whereas NEF/IE had to pactuate to some degree with this garbage in
order to have some mass-appeal, our collective Aetherometric Project
did not. Tired as he was of such degradation, he felt he could
continue as our intermediary with the scientific, business and public
communities. He thought that his own position, as a guarantor of the
technology and someone proficient in the theory, would secure
results, while permitting him to also interface with sought investors
and the larger public.
Of the larger public, we know not what to say.
We have had plenty of inquiries as to why we did not go to the Oregon
conference, or ICCF-11, and even as to why we have no role in IE. At
this point, the answers should be rather clear. But how to tell what
is the 'general public' from those who have an information agenda -
the new experts and servants of the publicitarian concept, always out
for some information they can misappropriate and falsify?
What we do know is that none of the scientists
and engineers that Gene approached, no matter how qualified they
seemed to be, ever listened to him concerning our effort. And the odd
one that did seem interested could be counted upon to reveal that his
interest was in forcing open a back door into our laboratories and
log books - like that reptilian physicist [Chino Srinivasan] who worked for the Indian
Tata Co. and tried to use the Revenue Canada Agency (through an
ex-Tata employee who, after being in Canada for a mere 2 years, was
already an investigator for that agency!) to do a bogus audit of our
company. This audit, in technological terms, went nowhere - for the
simple reason that we never bothered to apply for scientific grants
from our corrupt government, and consequently the auditors could not
touch our log books. All they could do is take note of the demos and
business negotiations we had conducted in the decade of the nineties.
So if Gene indeed made a mistake, it was to
have trusted segments of this class - these scientists, these
engineers, these cadres, these technocrats and 'thanatocrats'
who dream only of 'saving us from ourselves' and of making bombs and
particle guns to cure us from the horrors of war - and to have
trusted too many of them individually, including his MIT school
companions that he later discovered were not made of the fiber he had
expected. Instead, they were humanoid invertebrates.
As a dire result - whether deliberate or not -
of Gene's murder, open investigation into New Physics closed down, as
the field was taken over by shabby image-makers - the promoters of
technological salvation for a penny. And young people, now the most
sought-after mass market, take it all in like sponges, as the hydra
sucks their heads. William Burroughs described this so aptly in an
interview with Nicholas Zurbrugg:
"I think ' Ghost of Chance'
talks about this - about species wearing out?"
"Yes - well, it seems we're getting an
increasingly flawed human product. It's incredible. In a recent
poll, something like half of high school graduates could not
locateVietnam on a map and didn't know that we'd fought a war
there, much less that we'd lost a war there. And when it comes to
World War Two - no idea who Churchill was, or Stalin - "Stalin,
don't know about him!" Now, these are high school graduates! It's
apalling! (...) People are getting stupider and stupider! There's
no doubt about it!"
"Is this enough to drive you back to teaching, to try to remedy it?"
"No. No, no, no, it's past that! It's
past remedy - it's hopeless. There's nothing you can do with
something like that."
"Except,
I suppose, satirize it?"
"Well, this is going to have almost no
effect." (...)
"Did you find it (...) fun teaching?"
"No. I don't like teaching at all. I
don't like classes, I don't like teaching, period. I enjoy
performing, at a reading - that's a very different thing. But
teaching, you're putting a lot out and getting nothing back. You
put things out and they're not going anywhere. It's like pouring
it into a bottomless pit. (...) Even if I do teach, I keep it more in
the form of lectures, so that I can get up and talk, give a lecture,
and that's it."
"And do you think that technological
advances offer much hope for the future?"
"Well, we have all this technology and
ways of disseminating information, but you have this appalling
ignorance. So, you have all this technology, but what is it doing? Are
people becoming more aware, or are they availing themselves of this
information? Apparently, not at all."
"So maybe that's the challenge - to work out what the potential is?"
"I don't think there is any. It's
sort of strange, but we're just getting stupider and stupider. I
think one thing that characterizes the present day are these
separations between, say, people who have awareness and the
mainstream, which is just sinking into a complete state almost
bordering on the far side of idiocy. (...) No politicians, of course,
can address the issues - such as the destruction of the rain forests
- or take the measures that would be necessary, in time. They will
not do anything until it's too late. The only thing that gets
homo-sap up off his dead ass is a foot up it! And that foot usually
comes too late. They won't do anything about it until it is too
late. Till they've destroyed (...) whatever it is that's being
destroyed."
Sounds familiar? Full of promises of paradise
and utopia, of ever more costly would-be solutions (that are just
around the corner) for problems that
it cannot grasp, let alone understand, the human species
(pl.) is looking squarely into the face of its extinction - if not by
a variety of accumulated suicides (ecocide, genocide, pandemics,
etc), then by that simplest of the paths to damnation: sheer
inadequacy to deal with the serious problems it has created.
Of course, there will always be a market for a
fashionable belief in salvation lying just around the corner. IE will
now be able to have its share of this market, probably for years to
come. The imaginary ZPE will deliver to us salvation on a platter and
an EVO bomb for dessert. And the table-top cold fusion cell will save
us from ourselves, or at the very least become a bargain-basement
tool for terrorists. One marvels at the appalling stupidity, at the
ferocious appetite of the human world for fictions dished out and
managed by the scientific and image-making cadres. Inadequate thought
has led the world to where it is now, "from error to stupidity",
as Debord was fond of saying. But maybe Debord was mistaken in
thinking that if one cannot choose the epoch one is born into, one
can at least transform it. It seems the epoch has long ago reached a
point where all transformation is always into another version of the
same. It has become un-transformable just as it appears to change.
Could the world be saved by technology, even
the best and ultimate technology? Could Burroughs be wrong? The
murder of Gene and the slow death of IE have only proven him right.
Our own combat will continue elsewhere. But we have no illusions
left about its outcome.
By the time he was murdered, Gene, too, had
few, if any, illusions left about these techno-scientific cadres and
their ethical worth or their capacity to take science beyond the pit
where it now lies, let alone to bring forth an alternative power
technology (ah, and then there is "anti-gravity"...). He
had confronted many and copied us on the exchanges. He wanted to
expose the whole lot of them - but only after our having secured the
mythical investment in ABRI through the Aethera company he had
founded. It never happened. Instead, the barbarians have now taken
over IE, and brought shame upon our homage to Gene, by 'transforming
Infinite Energy' into the New Banner
of free-energy crackpots and failed cold-fusioneers. Riding the tide
of these politically-correct times, the new IE will display Gene's
body as the relics of a fallen martyr and will market the distortion
of his spirit to sell bankrupt fantasies with mass-appeal. A little
Canadian PC sociology à la Manning, a pinch of O'Leary's
rabble-rousing delirium about the glorious dawning of freedom from
laws in physics, and a good dollop of Scott Chubbs' healing magic.
Only the idiocies of the jolly deMeo are still missing. But maybe
not.
We warned you all.
We shall write no more for Infinite
Energy.
